Nell Benney

PhD student

Research Overview

Nell is researching labour conditions of the agroecological farming sector in the UK, specfically the use of unpaid work/ers. Her ongoing PhD project aims to understand the cultural and economic reasons for the use of unpaid work/ers on agroecological farms, and how this work is either resisted or accepted by the community. Nell's academic work lies at the intersection of labour studies and worker activism, informed by her experiences as a farm worker, and her work with the new trade union for land workers Solidarity Across Land Trades (SALT).
