Lancaster University’s Facilities team have won Gold at the Association of University Directors of Estates (AUDE) Awards 2024.

The AUDE Estates/Facilities Team of the Year Award recognises Facilities and Estates teams that exhibit exceptional team work leading to significant achievement.

Comments from the award judges are summarised on the AUDE website, which says Lancaster's Facilities Team is "an outstanding team with many measurable successes. This is a synchronised in-house team of 576 staff, passionate and committed to positive change, with a shared responsibility and central focus on sustainability, delivering new goals that will create a sustainable world-class institution. The Facilities culture at Lancaster is one of caring about people, listening and getting on with the job. Guided by an ethos of strong teamwork defined by Facilities values, they enhance student experience and satisfaction through the physical estate, enabling delivery of the University Strategic Plan’s vision and priorities as a global high-quality institution."

David Hounslea, Director of Estates, Facilities and Commercial Services said: “We are extremely proud to receive this award from AUDE. It is testament to the exceptional efforts of the Facilities team working hard to deliver our vision of making campus a sustainable and inspiring place to be. I would like to thank everyone that has contributed to our success.”

The AUDE Awards 2024 took place on Wednesday 17 April at the Glasshouse International Centre for Music, Newcastle. AUDE identify and nominate teams, projects and individuals who have made a significant contribution to enhancing excellence and ensuring university estates provide best value to support the institutional mission and promote professionalism, efficiency, and effectiveness.

The annual AUDE Awards focus on some the country’s fantastic estates and facilities teams, and their contributions to the success of UK universities and the wider sector. The awards present an opportunity for the wider UK university estates community to come together to share knowledge, recognise achievement and learn from best practice taking place across the industry.
